Leeward Islands, Lesser AntillesAnguilla

Dune Preserve

This pristine island boasts charming villages, peaceful harbors and stunning stretches of white powdery beaches. Compared to some Caribbean islands masquerading as tourist traps, you'll find something a little more authentic on Anguilla. There's an embargo on cruise ships, casinos and high-rise hotels, but a surplus of clear, coral-filled waters, unmarked and unpaved roads and low-key beachfront villas. Pampering is also at a premium, from the grandiose resorts to the sophisticated alfresco dining. Once the sun does go down, you'll be treated to some of the best live music scenes in the Western Hemisphere. Everyone from Quincy Jones to Bankie Banx and Jimmy Buffett has stopped by Anguilla's ashen shores to perform. Anguilla boasts 33 beaches, all of them free and open to the public. The island's Atlantic-facing north coast has the wilder waves and more remote beaches. Popular spots like Sandy Ground, Shoal Bay, Rendezvous Bay, and Meads Bay, have waterfront restaurants, bars, and resorts to go along with sand and surf. Secluded Little Bay can only be reached by boat. Sandy Island and Scilly Cay are tiny islands with beach bars..

Perfect Beaches

SKIPPERS NOTES: One of our favorite stops is Little Bay and Flat Cap Point, both part of a Marine Preserve which has 5 mooring balls. Both spots have great snorkeling under the cliffs and Little Bay has a tiny white beach where you can layout. Another crew highlight is ATV rental and cruising the different bars and restaurants. For lunch, we like to head to Blanchards Beach Shack on Meads Bay. Great burgers, cold beer, homemade fudge brownies and a fabulous beach to layout on.
